The SFS Magazine is an end of year celebration to share the progress we have made since launching Sustainable Fashion Scotland in February 2020 and to showcase contributions from the wonderful #SustFashScotland community and their sustainability stories.

We hope you enjoy browsing and gaining an insight into the fashion landscape in Scotland, and maybe even make some new connections through the pages!

Community Calls

Held on the last Thursday of every month, the SFS Community Call provides a space to make new connections and discuss current topics within the #SustFashScotland community. Led by a knowledgeable fashion practitioner based in Scotland, together we explore sustainable solutions and collaborative ways forward.

Upcoming Community Calls

February 2021
Thursday 25th, 7.30pm-8.30pm
Topic: Networking event: 'How can we connect and empower each other?'

It’s been 1 year since our in-person networking launch event at ApparelXchange in February 2020, and to celebrate a year of SFS we are hosting another (online) networking session to connect with new faces and reconnect with familiar ones. There will be no guest facilitator leading this Community Call. Instead, we are trying out a different format using breakout rooms so you can chat to and get inspired by others working on the ground in Scotland’s fashion landscape. Everyone is welcome and we are looking forward to having more informal conversations led by your experiences, challenges, projects and aspirations for a sustainable future. Come along to meet new faces and reconnect with familiar ones, and to learn about how SFS will be working to enable community-led collective action in 2021.

Book Club

The SFS Book Club is a friendly space to learn, explore and discuss sustainable fashion together, open to the whole community (including those who are new to sustainable fashion). In collaboration with Kat Rulach from KYE Studio, texts are selected by the community (aiming to be as accessible as possible) to read on a monthly basis. Please submit your suggestions for our next text (book, article or other text):

The next Book Club meeting will be on March 17th at 7.30pm, where we will be discussing Folk Fashion: Understanding Homemade Clothes by Amy Twigger Holroyd. Click here for links to buy and access alternative free options to engage with the topic.

You can also browse a preview of the book below for free, via Google Books.

In your inbox every 2 weeks, the SFS newsletter is one of the best places to keep up to date with our progress. You can also expect to stay informed on inspiring stories from the community, not-to-be-missed events, opportunities for industry, and requests for support and collaboration from other newsletter readers plus more as we evolve.
